Masters of the Universe (1987)
I admit, i have a soft spot for that movie, and the Blu Ray looks astonishingly good. Frank Langella's sensual portrayal of Skeletor gives this version of the villian a clear distinction—his twitching when He-Man gets whipped in front of him opens so many cans of worms. Although we don't see much of Eternia, the streets on earth seem eerily deserted, Dolph Lundgren clearly being not so well trained in sword fighting—Lundgren's uncertainty brings his He-Man a tad down to earth.—, etc. which are clear indicators of this being a work of floundering production company and a toy franchise in decline, trying to come up for a last gasp of air—then there is Blade, who is played by Anthony De Longis, who has a great time, as well as Jon Cypher's Man-at-Arms.
The whole Garry Goddard child abuse thing sours the movie though…
I don't think the 2026 live-action version won't be as good as this one.
